This new project has me psyched, and I’m not even the vocalist! Canny wait to see what else we all come up with! We’re all friends and bros so I don’t see why we can’t just come up with some amazing designs for tracks! So far we’ve got a sort of thrashy groove metal thing going but with influence from all metal styles, black, djent, power, industrial, progressive. All is goooood!
OH MY FUCKING GOD. Getting angry or frustrated or sad anytime you see a certain word/phrase/post, etc., is not what being “triggered” means. If that were the case, EVERY SINGLE MINUTE I SPEND ON TUMBLR, I’M SPENDING BEING TRIGGERED. Which is flat out stupid beyond belief. If EVERYTHING is a trigger for you - if getting mildly upset at something is a definition of “trigger” for you, how in the ever-living fuck do you survive in the real world? Seriously. Holy shit.
The post actually was making a good point at first, since there are triggers for things besides PTSD- suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders, addiction, intense phobias (though that might fall under the “panic attack” heading), and epilepsy triggers. And there are more PTSD triggers than flashbacks and panic attacks. PTSD is very complex and people have different responses that nonetheless are still a trigger. Even the “a trigger can be depression or anger” was accurate.
But then they lost me at “frustration”. No. A trigger causes profound distress, not just an “immediate reaction”. If you can describe your feelings as “frustrated”, you are not distressed. And if you are not distressed, you are not triggered. That’s it. You ARE using the word wrong.
